I Tried It: Reebok's Jukari Fit-To-Fly Workout

It involves a pole, it gets you rather sweaty, and it's been done by Audrina Patridge and Mischa Barton. Get your mind out of the gutter, girls! I'm talking about Reebok's new "Jukari Fit to Fly" class, AKA one of the best workouts I've ever gotten.

You dolls may know me as the Louboutin-loving blogger from Slaves to Fashion, but I also happen to be kind of a hardcore fitness freak. I do yoga at least two or three times a week, and I try to hit the gym, go for a run, or do a spinning class about twice a week, too. But like anyone else who loves to work out, I sometimes find my routine getting a bit boring. So when the team at Reebok invited me to check out their Jukari Fit to Fly class at NYC's Equinox gym, I was in (plus, I scored all kinds of Reebok goodies to wear while I worked out--how could I say no?)

Reebok teamed up with Cirqrue du Soleil to develop a totally un-boring workout that improves your core, balance, cardio, and strength, all while letting you dangle and dance with a specially designed "Fly Set" that hangs from the studio's ceiling. The moves are inspired by what the Cirque du Soleil trapeze artists do, and trust me--it's harder than it looks. As soon as I took one look at Sara Hanley, the utterly flab-less instructor of the class, I knew I was in for an intense workout experience.

I've spent a serious amount of time in plank position over the past year, and there's just about no amount of crunches that can scare my abs. But I am not lying when I tell you girls that every little laugh or sneeze over the past two days has reminded me just how vigorous this workout was--and I still enjoyed it! We went through intervals of intense cardio (running through the studio on the Fly Set, jumping off the ground and getting the kind of adrenaline rush that only comes with flying), followed by periods of serious conditioning that brought our heart rates down but our glutes right up. We lunged, crunched, and pushed up, but none of it felt like a boring conditioning class, thanks to my fantasy that I was starring in Cirque du Soleil...

And here's your proof that I wasn't just prancing around in my pretty new Reebok workout gear. Yes, that's the back of my sweaty neck post-Jukari. I know. Disgusting. Slash, amazing. And now I get to join the ranks of the glitterati who have already gotten sweaty at Jakari:
